Who says kids have all the fun? HSA offers adult private lessons in music and theatre. Classes are offered during evening and weekend hours to accommodate busy schedules. Contact our registration office to discuss your interests and register today!

MUSIC
Adult Ensemble
The HSA Adult Ensemble is for adults with musical talent and/or experience who want to become more adept at performing in a group. The Ensemble brings together adults who play complementary instruments to work together to learn new selections, understand how to blend and perform as a unit, and support each other’s musical contributions.

Adult Choir
The HSA Adult Choir is for those with vocal talent and/or experience who want to grow in their performance abilities. Your voice will be analyzed to understand your vocal type and range, and you’ll learn how to perform and identify distinct vocal parts as a member of a multi-voice choir. The choir will explore musical compositions ranging from popular, jazz, Gospel, and contemporary songbooks.

Private Lessons
Private music lessons in technique and musicianship from a distinquished faculty of committed music educators, who are also acclaimed performers.  

Students can sign up for individual lessons at any time during the year in 16-week or 32-week sessions and 6 week during the summer (July 7 – August 15).  In addition to a 60-minute lesson, departmental recitals are presented twice a year.

DANCE
Teen and Adult Tap with Jason Bernard
Tuesdays, 7:15-8:30 pm
From Broadway’s Bring In Da’ Noise, Bring In Da’ Funk and After Midnight, Jason Bernard takes participants through a fun and aerobic class full of rhythm and inspiration. No experience necessary. 

Intermediate Men’s Ballet with Daniel Catanach
Wednesdays, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Designed specifically for men this class explores the skills necessary for the male dancer. Daniel Catanach uses French, Italian, and Russian schools of training while stressing the importance of performance.

Intermediate Ballet with Daniel Catanach
Thursdays, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Acclaimed teacher and choreographer Daniel Catanach combines scientific principles with elements from classic French, Italian, and Russian schools of training.

Teen and Adult Beginner Ballet with Kat Wildish
Fridays, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Master ballet and pointe technique teacher Kat Wildish introduces students of all ages and levels to classical ballet technique with a strong emphasis on proper alignment. Kat’s class promotes balance, focus, and grace.

Intermediate Ballet with Leyland Simmons
Saturdays, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm
Choreographer and ABT certified teacher Leyland Simmons’ class focuses on alignment, placement, transition steps, proper use of dynamics, musicality, and coordination of the head, arms, and legs. Leyland’s goal is to help students strengthen their classical ballet technique, develop their artistry, and reach their full potential.

Be prepared for that next audition! Our private coaching provides a more intimate training session with a master instructor on materials needed to audition for television, film, and theatre.


THEATRE
Adult Acting Scene Study
Saturdays, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
A beginner to intermediate level scene study class for adults, exploring basic acting technique: objective/obstacle, creating a character and analyzing a script. Offered in 2 consecutive 16-week sessions, Adult Acting will culminate in a public presentation, a “scene night” for friends, families and other adventurers.

Theatre Private Coaching 
Available for children through adults, private coaching is designed to meet the individual needs of performers who are preparing for specific roles/auditions, including auditions for specialized performance arts high schools or universities, or working on specific issues of technique, speech and concentration.


VISUAL ARTS
Introduction to Photoshop for Adults
This introductory Adobe Photoshop course familiarizes users with the editing capabilities of Adobe Photoshop software. Students learn how to use the Adobe Photoshop interface and access its expansive set of features. Lessons cover the basics of saving and storing image files and defining the various processes used for image editing. When they complete this Adobe Photoshop course, students will know how to use the paintbrush, airbrush, stamp, and pencil tools. Digital camera and USB Drive required.
