Scott Markowitz is a Managing Director and Head of Sales and Business Development for HSBC Securities Services (HSS) Americas, based in New York City. Scott oversees a team of executives whose primary responsibility is to connect new and existing Americas clients with the full suite of HSS global solutions including global and local custody and clearing, traditional and alternative investment fund administration, as well as trustee and fiduciary oversight services.
Before being appointed to his current position, Scott spent 16 years at BNY Mellon where he held a variety of senior client-facing and management roles in institutional client management as well as in traditional and alternative funds servicing. For the first half of his career, Scott covered Japanese banks and financial institutions, first in New York City and then in Tokyo.
Scott received a BBA from The College of William and Mary, an MA in Asian Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester where he also spent a semester studying abroad at the International University of Japan. He is a graduate of the Japanese School at Middlebury College.
Scott is also a graduate of the Securities Industry Institute, sponsored by SIFMA and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He holds a Claritas Investment Certificate, awarded by the CFA Institute.
Scott is on the Board of Directors of Harlem School of the Arts, an institution dedicated to enriching the lives of children in the Harlem community of New York City, through exposure to and instruction in the arts.
