Dorothy Leigh Mainor, known as Dorothy Maynor, was an American soprano, concert singer, and the founder of the Harlem School of the Arts. Maynor is noted as the first African–American to sing at a presidential inauguration, performing at President Harry S. Truman’s inaugural gala in 1949.
To apply for financial aid, parents must first create an account with FACTS to fill out the necessary income information and upload W2 forms, and the prior year’s tax information.
Once applications are submitted, and all required documents are received by FACTS from families, a business review will be conducted. This takes approximately 2-3 weeks to complete.
Applicants also receive an award letter through FACTS that they must sign and return electronically (to financialaid@hsanyc.org) or in person at HSA. Awards are income-based, and if an applicant is eligible for financial assistance, the applicant will receive an award amount via FACTS management, for the designated year for which the financial aid should be applied. Once the signed award letter has been received, applicants are instructed to register for the classes on a payment plan.
