Provides 50 annual scholarships—that’s 50 dancers, musicians, actors, and designers gaining access to transformative arts education.

Equips 20 students with instruments for an entire year.

Provides new computers for five animation students—Macs, PCs, and gaming systems for future designers and digital artists or outfits our theater and musical theater students with costumes worthy of the Broadway stage.

Supports 6 weeks of Summer Camp for Harlem and NYC youth.

Funds student internships, giving young artists real-world exposure to careers in the arts and culture sector.

Supports 2 weeks of Summer Camp or provides 10 pairs of pointe shoes or performance costumes for our dancers representing HSA across NYC and at national competitions like the Youth America Grand Prix

Brings master artists into the classroom through inspiring masterclasses or purchases 10 digital cameras for our photography and video students.

Provides transportation and meals for 15 students—opening doors to experiences across the city.

The Herb Alpert Foundation

Herb Alpert, a legendary jazz musician, picked up a trumpet in his elementary school music class, and he never looked back—music became his life. Alpert has since dedicated his life to the art. Through the Herb Alpert Foundation, Alpert and his family have become forerunners in arts education philanthropy. Since 2010, the Alpert Foundation has played a crucial role in supporting the Harlem School of the Arts (HSA), particularly during a time when the school faced the threat of permanent closure. The continued support from Mr. Alpert, his family, and their foundation has been vital to HSA’s mission of offering world-class arts education to young people with immense potential. Their contributions ensure the nurturing of the next generation of artists.
