Fall 2026 Registration

For students ages 8–17 who dream of pursuing art as a career, we offer specialized programs called HSA Prep and HSA Pre-Prep. These programs provide advanced artistic training in a supportive environment, helping young artists build the skills and confidence they need for future success in the arts.

Our experienced department directors work personally with each student to evaluate their current skills and interests. This helps us place your child in the perfect class where they’ll feel both challenged and confident as they grow their artistic abilities.

Yes. However, for those students who do not have access to an instrument, HSA can provide a list of stores that rent a variety of instruments.

Our program runs in two terms of 16 weeks each, for a total of 32 weeks of artistic exploration. Class lengths are designed with your child’s age and attention span in mind — toddler classes are a fun-filled hour, while older students enjoy immersive two-hour sessions. Yes! We’re excited to announce that our toddler programs are launching soon. These age-appropriate classes will introduce our youngest artists to the joy of creative expression. Stay tuned for more details!

Semester 1 runs from September 19, 2026 through February 2, 2027. Semester 2 runs from February 6, 2027 through June 21, 2027.

Early Bird registration opens June 16 and runs through July 11 with 20% off, followed by 10% off from July 12 through August 2. Regular-price registration runs August 3–28, and late registration opens September 19–25. A 25% deposit is required at every window except late registration, which requires 50%. Registration closes for good on September 25 at 11:59pm.

Financial Aid for the 2026–2027 school year opens June 17, 2026. After registering for classes and paying your deposit, create an account with our Financial Aid partner FACTS and upload your requested documents — especially your 2025 tax return (if you didn’t file one, just note that in FACTS). Any aid awarded is applied to your remaining balance, so check your FACTS account regularly for updates and your award letter.

Yes. HSA partners with unions including 1199, TWU Local 100, and Culture for One — reach out to them directly to see if you qualify. Families may also be eligible for New York State’s Empire State Arts Scholarship Program (NYSSSA). HSA also offers Additional Tuition Assistance on a first-come, first-served basis for families who are denied aid through FACTS, available only after FACTS closes.

Yes — we offer monthly payment plans, which require the same 25% deposit to start. Every plan must be paid in full by the end of its semester.

Once a student is registered, the payer of the account is responsible for the full cost of the classes for which the student is enrolled. To withdraw from a full-year or semester class, email a written request to info2@hsanyc.org within the first two weeks of the semester (or within two weeks of registering, whichever is later). Refunds are then issued by check or electronic funds transfer within 10 business days, minus the non-refundable $25 registration fee and, for full-year classes, a $100 administrative fee. Withdrawals related to severe illness may qualify for a partial refund or credit with a note from a physician. Full details are in our Terms and Conditions.

New families start by creating an account, then return to this page to select classes. Returning families can go ahead and choose from any class that isn’t marked read-only — if a class you want is read-only, contact Student Services at info2@hsanyc.org for more information. Be sure to register for classes that fit the grade your child is entering in the fall.

A class labeled Preparatory Track is a more rigorous option, tailored to students who are honing their skills in a particular discipline in order to apply to our Preparatory Program. Enrolling in a Prep Track class does not guarantee admission to the Preparatory Program — that requires a separate audition and director approval.

The HSA Preparatory Program is a highly selective, pre-professional scholarship program for students ages 10–18. It offers advanced-level training in music, dance, theatre, musical theatre, and visual arts on a set mandatory schedule, preparing students to engage with high-caliber professional artist training programs beyond high school.

HSA classes are organized by grade level rather than age. When registering, base your class choices on the grade your child is entering in the fall.
