SIGN UP: Lead The Change Summer Youth Empowerment

HSA is honored to be among the 10 recipients of Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s grants to community organizations that will be supporting gun violence prevention initiatives this summer.  According to the press release:

“For the fifth consecutive summer, the Office’s funding will provide community-based organizations the ability to compensate young New Yorkers for engaging in meaningful programs — including career readiness, self-expression, and community activation — intended to address the root causes of youth gun violence.”

This prevention award builds on the 5th straight year of double-digit shooting declines in Manhattan.

The summer youth program at HSA, called Lead the Change, is a six-week empowerment program for youth ages 14-21.  Young people will engage in discussions and creative activities focus on gun violence prevention, career readiness, college preparation, leadership develop and essential life skills.

They’ll also receive a stipend upon completing the 6-week program.

The program runs July 6- August 14 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of each week from 6-8pm.
