Harlem Summer Arts Experience

Dates: July 10 – August 18, 2023

Join us for the third annual Harlem Summer Arts Experience, a transformative six-week program from July 10 to August 18, 2023, designed for children aged 4-12. Led by experienced instructors and special guest artists, the curriculum developed by Soul Science Lab, immerses students in the vibrant history of Harlem while exploring music, dance, acting, and design. Inspired by the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop, campers will discover the roots of West African Tradition to Hip Hop, culminating in presentations of their creative achievements. Mentoring programs, outdoor activities, and special trips enhance their experience, fostering a sense of community and a deeper connection to the arts. HSA Summer Dance Intensive

Dates: August 7-25, 2023

This year’s HSA Dance Summer Intensive is a ballet and modern based experience for students with at least three years of consistent training. Ballet classes will be a part of the daily curriculum. Three years of ballet training is recommended. To complement the ballet focus, the intensive will also offer contemporary, Jazz, Horton Technique, Improvisation, Street Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lindy Hop and more. In celebration of our partnership with the Radio City Rockettes, we will present weekly precision technique classes led by members of the Radio City Rockettes. The intensive will end with our Summer Blaze concert on August 25th at 5:30p. This experience is designed to grow the technique of intermediate and advanced dancers. The intensive is about love, life, and dance!

Audition Details

This year students who do not train in the HSA Dance program can send 2 minute videos of themselves dancing in the forms of Ballet, Modern, or Contemporary. In the video they should also include their name, age, along with themselves standing in 1st arabesque and tendu à la seconde.

The Artistry Lab

Dates: August 8-31, 10 AM – 4 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Immerse yourself in a world of creativity as we focus on building core skills and crafting portfolio-level pieces. From figure drawing and anatomy to digital art using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, you’ll receive comprehensive training and explore the depths of your artistic potential. The journey culminates in a captivating gallery exhibition, where your artwork will shine. The Acting Lab

Dates: August 14-September 1, 10 AM – 4 PM every day
Ages: 11-18
 
Join us at Harlem School of the Arts for “The Acting Lab,” a thrilling 3-week program designed to unleash talent on both the stage and screen. From August 14th to September 1st, aspiring performers aged 11-18 years old can immerse themselves in a dynamic exploration of acting techniques. Led by industry professionals, this immersive experience covers a range of exciting topics, including improv comedy, August Wilson monologues, and commercial auditioning. Through carefully curated exercises and guidance, students will develop their skills, build confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of the craft. “The Acting Lab” at Harlem School of the Arts is the perfect platform for young actors to embark on a transformative journey where creativity and performance merge into a captivating experience.
